2007–2018 Chevy/GMC Silverado & Sierra (7-Inch Rear Lowering Kit for Cast Aluminum Spindles)

Maximum Static Drop • 7" Rear Flip Kit • Show-Stance Ready • Correct Geometry • Smooth Ride Quality • Most Aggressive Rear Drop Available

Dropping the rear of your 2007–2018 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra creates one of the most dramatic stance transformations available in modern full-size trucks. For builders who want the lowest static drop possible without resorting to air ride, this 7-Inch Rear Lowering Kit is the deepest, cleanest, and most geometry-correct drop available for trucks equipped with cast aluminum spindles.

At seven full inches of lowering, your Silverado or Sierra achieves an extreme yet practical static stance—perfect for aggressive street builds, deep-lip wheel setups, show-quality trucks, and custom performance applications. This kit does not use lowering blocks or unsafe shortcuts. Instead, it uses a precision-engineered axle flip system, placing the rear axle on top of the leaf springs instead of beneath them. This classic, proven method provides a safe, stable, predictable drop while fully preserving the leaf spring arc, ride quality, and structural integrity.

This is not an improvised or universal drop kit—it’s a professionally engineered solution for trucks with GM’s cast aluminum spindle configuration, ensuring optimal compatibility and proper suspension geometry.

If you want the biggest, boldest, and lowest static rear drop for your 2007–2018 GM 1500 truck, this is the kit.

VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY

This kit is engineered specifically for:

2007–2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 (Cast Aluminum Spindles)

2007–2013 GMC Sierra 1500 (Cast Aluminum Spindles)

2014–2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 (Confirm spindle type)

2014–2018 GMC Sierra 1500 (Confirm spindle type)

GM used two spindle materials during this era:

  • Cast Aluminum (this kit is designed for these)

  • Stamped Steel

THIS KIT FITS CAST ALUMINUM SPINDLE TRUCKS ONLY.
If you’re unsure of your spindle type, please double check second image.

DOES NOT FIT:

  • 2500HD / 3500HD

  • 2019+ Silverado/Sierra

  • Trucks converted to rear coil springs

  • Trucks without leaf-spring architecture

  • Trucks with aftermarket 4-link or air-ride (unless modified)

WHY A 7-INCH DROP IS SPECIAL

The Maximum Static Drop Available on a GM 1500 Without Air Ride

A 7-inch rear drop is the most extreme lowering height available before reaching the territory that normally requires:

  • Frame notching

  • 4-link conversions

  • Air-over-leaf systems

  • Full air bag setups

  • Custom bump stop relocation

This kit gives you that ultra-low stance while maintaining:

  • Factory leaf springs

  • OEM mounting geometry

  • Safe driveline angles (when installed correctly)

  • Predictable handling

  • Load capability (within reason)

  • Smooth street performance

THE ENGINEERING BEHIND A 7-INCH FLIP KIT

The Axle Flip Method

GM trucks mount the rear axle under the leaf springs from the factory.
A flip kit places the axle above the leaf springs.

This instantly delivers:

  • 6–7 inches of drop

  • Lower center of gravity

  • Improved stability

  • Better weight distribution

  • Clean, aggressive stance

This design is superior to lowering blocks, which cause:

  • Axle wrap

  • Wheel hop

  • Harsh ride

  • Unsafe geometry

  • Driveshaft vibration

How This Kit Reaches the Full 7 Inches

This is the deepest drop in the GM static-lowering world.

The geometry is achieved by:

  1. Flipping the axle on top of the leaf springs

  2. Repositioning lower shock mounts (depending on kit version)

  3. Engineering corrected pinion angle into the drop brackets

  4. Keeping leaf springs in proper arc

  5. Maintaining factory shackle articulation

It’s the cleanest way to go ultra-low without compromising structural integrity.

BENEFITS OF A 7-INCH DROP ON 2007–2018 SILVERADO/SIERRA

1. Show-Truck Stance

Seven inches of drop dramatically changes the entire profile of the truck:

  • Massive reduction in wheel gap

  • Aggressive, pavement-hugging look

  • Perfect for large wheels (22", 24", and even 26")

  • Ideal for deep-lip or negative-offset setups

  • Creates a true “sport-truck” appearance

2. Lowered Center of Gravity

Greatly improves:

  • Cornering

  • Body roll

  • Highway stability

  • Braking performance

3. Better Wheel Fitment

Ideal for:

  • 22x10

  • 24x10

  • 24x12

  • 26" show wheels

  • Flush, poke, or tucked fitment

4. The Perfect Static Setup

A 7-inch rear drop pairs well with:

  • 3-inch front drop

  • 4-inch front drop

  • Spindles + coils

  • Control arm front drops

Common stance combos:

  • 3/7 drop

  • 4/7 drop

  • 5/7 drop

This provides a show-ready silhouette without bags.

5. Maintains OEM Leaf-Spring Comfort

Ride stays smooth because:

  • Spring arc is unchanged

  • Spring rate is unchanged

  • Axle position is corrected

  • Geometry remains predictable

No harsh rebounds.
No sagging.
No sloppy articulation.

SMOOTH, SAFE, AND STREET-FRIENDLY

A 7-inch drop sounds extreme—but with proper engineering, it stays:

  • Stable

  • Predictable

  • Comfortable

  • Drivable

  • Daily-use friendly

Your suspension still retains:

  • Good compression travel

  • Proper shackle movement

  • Controlled droop (depending on shock choice)

  • Correct pinion angle

This kit is engineered for real-world driving, not just show parking lots.

SHOCKS ARE NOT INCLUDED (BUT ARE REQUIRED)

Lowering the rear 7 inches changes shock geometry and valve requirements.

DJM recommends:

Rear Shock: DJM 1900

These shocks deliver:

  • Proper rebound control

  • Proper compression damping

  • Smooth ride on lowered geometry

  • Better high-speed stability

  • Reduced axle hop

THESE SHOULD BE INSTALLED WITH THE KIT.
Stock shocks will bottom out and ride very poorly at a 7-inch drop.

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW

Time Required:

4–6 hours (depending on tools and rust)

Skill Level:

Intermediate

Tools Needed:

  • Floor jack + stands

  • Impact gun

  • Ratchets & sockets

  • Torque wrench
